In part 2, I will try and explore the effects of the pandemic on the fans. The lack of fans at the stadium affects the fans first and foremost. Football is a spectator sport and the fans are there for entertainment. Fan culture is a part of participatory culture and currently, the fan isn’t able to participate immersively.
This is the first part of a 3 part series on ‘how does the pandemic affect football’. In this piece, I will be discussing my take on how the absence of fans affects the players on the pitch and the coaching staff, and what that means for the game, in the long run.
